Extraordinary Commitment: Improving Communities One Roof at a Time

We’re all familiar with the phrase, “Put a roof over someone’s head.” It’s literally part of the RAFTRx mission statement. But it’s more than a message of providing shelter, it’s about ensuring others have what they need. As a business founded on the principle of community, we take pride in showing our local nonprofits and community causes as much attention to detail and dedication as we do to our everyday customers.

Beyond Your Roof: Community Service

We are proud to support a portfolio of community-oriented brands and encourage them to pursue passion projects and causes close to their hearts. After all, no two communities are alike and give back shouldn’t be either. Here are just a few of the ways RAFTRx brands help “put a roof over” their communities:

Blue Hammer Roofing: According to the National Network to End Domestic Violence, 63% of homeless women have been victims of domestic violence. What’s more, the bulk of these victims are also subjected to financial abuse, adding extra challenges to finding housing away from their abusers.

Blue Hammer Roofing is doing their part to help by partnering with Habitat for Humanity in the Dallas-Fort Worth area. For the past four years they have donated the necessary materials and labor to provide roofing for new home builds that provide safe housing for women and children escaping domestic violence.

Perimeter Roofing: Around 68% of U.S. schools have unpaid student meal debt. Despite multiple free and reduced lunch programs across the country, there are still many students who fall through the cracks, where their families don’t qualify for assistance, yet are still unable to afford food. In some cases, schools will even withhold meals or give a poor substitute, like a cheese sandwich, until the debt is paid.

In 2018, Perimeter Roofing created its non-profit Perimeter Cares to tackle this problem head-on. Every year they donate money to Georgia schools to cancel lunch debt and clear the way for students to have a hearty meal.

Mills Siding and Roofing: Sometimes, the ways we give come from places that are a little more personal – like our homeowners. When Dominic Duhn, a 20-year-old resident of Northville, Michigan, was struck and killed while riding his skateboard down the street in late 2020, his family started a grassroots effort to build a community skatepark in his honor.

Mills Siding and Roofing was honored to donate to the cause of one of their homeowners. Unity Skate Park officially opened in May 2024 thanks to the efforts and support of families and businesses in the Northville community.

These are just a few of the ways RAFTRx brands are giving back to the communities that support them. Afterall, the roof helps protect the house, but it’s the community that helps protect the home.
