Lifting Women Up: How One Roofing Pro is Building a Community of Empowered Women

Before beginning her career in roofing, Stephenie Scott, an Atlanta native, worked as a bartender and guest services coordinator for a local hair salon.

In search of career growth, she had seen several people thriving in the roofing industry on social media. So, in May 2022, she took the leap and made the switch.

And she hasn’t looked back since.

Stephenie began her career as a personal office assistant at Perimeter Roofing before advancing to the role of office manager. Eager to explore other aspects of the industry, she later transitioned into sales and project management, where her self-marketing efforts caught the attention of the Chief Marketing Officer at RAFTR Roofing + Exteriors.

Coming into the industry with no construction experience, Stephenie had to learn everything from the ground up. Fitting into a male-dominated industry wasn’t always easy, but Stephenie says her “new family of brothers” has been a great source of knowledge and support as she’s built her career.

Now, as RAFTRx’s Field Marketing Manager, Stephenie has become a knowledgeable resource for all things marketing and plays a key role in facilitating communication between the sales and corporate teams.

Stephenie enjoys helping homeowners and improving their customer experience. She also has a soft spot for systems and processes, which she says are essential to maintaining the industry’s controlled chaos.

For those seeking to join the roofing industry, Stephenie says, “Go for it!” She has greatly benefited from the confidence and sense of accomplishment she has found in roofing.

Joining National Women in Roofing

Stephenie discovered NWiR at this year’s IRE conference in San Antonio. She instantly embraced the concept of a community for women in the industry and collaborated with Lauren Carlson to establish the North Atlanta chapter, launching in June. As the councilwoman for the chapter, she is eager to create a safe space for women in the industry and to nurture a community of support and friendship.
